This morning I got an email from a colleague at the company I’m currently contracting at. There was a link to a video at Pbs.org where we can see Rocky Roccanova CEO at TouchTable, Inc, demoing the TouchTable which looks like a giant iPhone that marries satellite imagery with other data sources. The device is used in intelligence gathering, law enforcement, military, gas and oil companies and….schools to teach children geography!
Actually it’s a great tool to collaborate and share information in real-time. It can be networked to allow synchronized remote collaboration. This means that different groups can connect to the network and share data over long distances. Each device on the network displays the same information and is updated concurrently.
But with a price tag of $59,000 is not yet a consumer product unfortunately. I’ll stick with my iPhone for another while 🙂
