How To Disable UAC

If you are like me and can’t stand the User Account Control (UAC) prompts then this post is for you.
To completely disable UAC,  run this command from the command prompt:

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /k %windir%\System32\reg.exe ADD HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v EnableLUA /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

To re-enable it, again command prompt:

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /k %windir%\System32\reg.exe ADD HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v EnableLUA /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

Now if you’d still like to retain a little bit of security, you can disable it for Administrator accounts only. We’ll actually change Windows 2008/Vista to automatically elevate the privilege level for administrators without prompting. Go to regedit and change set the value to 0 to disable the key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]”ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin”=dword:0000000

Again, to re-enable the key, set it back to 2:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]”ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin”=dword:00000002
