Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Virtualization (MED-V)


Following my previous post yesterday about VDI, today Microsoft announced the availability of Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Virtualization (MED-V) Version 1 Beta which is of one of the six technologies in the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack.

 

What is the purpose of product?

Well basically it helps desktop IT guys to deliver and manage legacy applications in a Virtual PC.

 

Why would you need that?

Mostly to overcome OS upgrade issues with incompatible applications.

 

How do they do that?

By delivering applications in a Virtual PC that runs a previous version of the OS.
